Sifting

The aim of the sift is to: A model sift evaluation form for use by panel members and a
sift listing sheet to summarise the scores are available.

GIS applicants meeting the stipulated minimum eligibility criteria must be invited to interview.

A record of the sift criteria applied and decisions made on each candidate (including evidencing any separate consideration competence and attendance where appropriate) must be retained for audit purposes.

Applicants not invited to interview may make representations against their non-selection. Representations must be made in writing within 7 working days and can only be on the basis that the panel has not complied with mandatory procedures. This includes the consideration of attendance data.

Representations must be considered by the chair of the original panel plus one additional member at least an equivalent grade or payband as the post being filled, who was not involved in the original sift.

Depending upon the number of vacancies and the strength of the applications received, the panel may dispense with interview where this decision can be objectively justified.
